Fierceness Served! The ENIKAlley Coffeehouse

This documentary focuses on the culture and history of a Black LGBT performance venue, The ENIKAlley Coffeehouse that served as a rehearsal space for artists, and a meeting place for political organizations in Washington, DC from the mid-1980s to the early 1990s.

The ENIKAlley Coffeehouse was the epicenter of a Black LGBT cultural renaissance and resistance that paralleled The Harlem Renaissance. These groundbreaking performers never imagined then that the themes of racial and gender discrimination and identity would still resonate as strongly today.
